The next Key/Visual Art’s series with the anime adaptation of the visual novel Rewrite has been bringing out tidbits about it for a bit ahead of the summer season. The official site has now updated with the premiere date of July 2nd for it while also revealing that it will be a one-hour opening episode. The series will be directed by Motoki Tanaka who is also handling the overall series composition. Romeo Tanaka and Kai are also assisting on the composition and scripts while Masayuki Nonaka will be handling the character designs. 8bit is handling the animation production for it.
The cast includes:
- Masakazu Morita as Kotarou Tennouji
- Chiwa Saitou as Kotori Kanbe
- Saya Shinomiya as Chihaya Ootori
- Eri Kitamura as Akane Senri
- Keiko Suzuki as Shizuru Nakatsu
- Risa Asaki as Lucia Konohana
- Kana Hanazawa as Kagari
Runa Mizutani will be performing the opening theme song for the series with “Philosphyz” and she’ll also be doing the ending theme “Sasayaka na Hajiman.” You don’t tend to see the same performer doing both the opening and closing theme songs, so this stands out nicely. It was also revealed that Anri Kumaki is doing an insert song for the series with “End of the World.”
Plot concept: Rewrite is set in the fictional city Kazamatsuri where tree-planting and afforestation have caused the city to become overgrown with trees and flowers in much the same way that other cities are filled by buildings. However, while most of the city appears to be rural, there are many traditional city elements as well. While set in a modern setting, the city also gives off a strange sense of nostalgia.
Tennouji Kotarou lives here. He’s a high school student who has the ability to rewrite his own body; he can become stronger and faster at any time he chooses. He investigates supernatural mysteries with five girls from his school.
