It took awhile but the folks at Sony Japan stepped up earlier this spring to finally bring out the first two volumes of Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note. The show was very under the radar in general and as a simulcast and now we’ve got a look at the covers for the first two volumes that have the first eight episodes total. The series released the first two DVD releases for the show back on out on April 27th, 2016. They’re both priced at 3,600 yen and being DVD-only means that it’s largely just being shoveled out the door to try and recoup something on the show.
The series was directed by Kazuya Ichikawa based on series composition from Yuka Yamada who also worked on the scripts with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu.
The cast includes Yuiko Tastumi as Aya, Soma Saito as Kazuomi, Takuma Terashima as Takakazu Kuroki, Kotaro Nishiyama as Kazunori, and Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Kazuhiko.
Plot concept: Aya Tachibana is a sixth-grader who frets and obsesses over friends, family, grades, and more. One day, she joins the “Tantei Team KZ” with four very idiosyncratic boys she met at cram school. There is the glib and attention-grabbing leader Kazuomi Wakatake, the mysterious “expert of personal relationships” Takakazu Kuroki, the smart and stoic math genius Kazunori Uesugi, and the sweet-hearted Kazuhiko Kozuka who is good at social matters and science. Aya finds her place among them as the “language expert.” “Tantei Team KZ” gets involved in modern-day cases, and even if they bicker from time to time, they collaborate by pooling each of their talents and skills to solve these cases.
