Future Diary Hulu HeaderFunimation’s streaming updates with Hulu have been amusing to watch to some degree simply because of how some shows had faded away over time. The Future Diary recently had a good update where they’ve now brought out the first four episodes in dubbed form for fans to sample (you can get the whole show on Funimation’s site dubbed) as well as the full twenty-six episode run in its original Japanese language form with English subtitles.

Based on the light novel series by Sakae Esuno, Future Diary is a twenty-six episode series animated by Asread that gives us more fun with cell phones. It originally aired in 2011 and was animated by Asread. You can read our review of the first DVD set here and the second set here.

Plot concept: This psychological thriller, based on the manga written and illustrated by Esuno Sakae, is about Yuki, a loner who’s not very good with people. He prefers to write a diary on his cell phone and talk to his imaginary friend, Deus Ex Machina – The God of Time and Space. However, Yuki soon learns that Deus is more than a figment of his imagination when he makes Yuki participate in a battle royale with eleven others. The contestants are given special diaries that can predict the future, each diary possessing unique features that give it both advantages and disadvantages. Within the next 90 days, the contestants must try to survive until there is only one left standing. The winner will become the new God of Time and Space.
