‘Darth Vader’ Ongoing Series Ending

2 min read

Star Wars Vader NoWell, that’s a kick to the nards.

Marvel Comics has revealed that Kieron Gillen’s ongoing Darth Vader series, arguably the best of all the books that they’ve put out since going into the franchise, will be ending with the 25th issue. The finale will be an extra long story that will be between 40-56 pages when all is said and done. With sales that were stronger than a very good number of their ongoing superhero series, it’s easy to imagine that it’ll get a relaunch, likely through a different creative team. T

“It was a situation where, you know, we’ve always said all the way through, from ‘Darth Vader’ #1, that this was a story with a beginning, a middle and an end,” Gillen tells IGN. “we kind of looked where we were after ‘Vader Down,’ and we realized we were probably actually nearer to the end than we thought we were. And it was a situation where we were like, ‘Okay, it’s better to actually end this story in a way which we think is the most effective. We don’t want to pad it out extraneously.’ That was the kind of thing, we were like, ‘Oh yeah, this is the end of this particular story,’ in which case it’s a natural place for Vader to move on.”

The end of the series will leave the main Star Wars book and the new Poe Dameron book as the only ongoings. Check out the cover art gallery below!
