‘Supergirl’ Gets 2nd Season Renewal – At The CW

2 min read

Supergirl Season 1 Episode 11There’ve been plenty of rumors and talk in the trades the past couple of weeks about the fate of Supergirl, which had some of the best scoring for the season for a new series for CBS, as a second season renewal felt like it was in doubt. The hoped for and expected route has been taken as the show has gotten a second season renewal, but CBS is moving it to The CW where they have a 50% stake in the network – with Warner Bros. having the other stake. The production is moving to Vancouver to cut costs and licensing fees will drop since it’s not with CBS anymore so there may be some cast changes – especially if some actors don’t want to uproot to Vancouver for filming. We’re also curious to see if things will be reworked storywise to bring the series into the same world as Flash and Arrow.

More details are expected on everything in the coming weeks.

The series stars Melissa Benoist as Kara, Mehcad Brooks Brooks, Davide Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra Danvers, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El and Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. Dean Cain and Helen Slater are guest starring in the pilot.

Plot concept: The series centers on Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
