2 min read

Prison School Hulu HeaderThe 2015 anime series Prison School found itself a new home overseas with the pickup by German distributor Nipponart earlier this year and then spread out a basic plan for releases. The show was originally solicited with a four volume release with new volumes out on May 27th, July 29th, September 30th, and November 256th, 2016. We’re now seeing some conflicting dates as their main site lists a July 29th, 2016 debut for the first set while Amazon.DE lists a June 24th date. Suffice to say, the other dates are pretty much out of sync now. Both releases are priced at 30 euro each but we still don’t have any details on language options yet.

The TV series was directed by Tsutomu Mizushima and was based on the scripts from Michiko Yokote and character designs by Junichiro Taniguchi, who is also served as the chief animation director. It was animated by JC Staff.

Originally starting in 2011, Akira Hiramoto’s Kangoku Gakuen has nineteen volumes published so far. The series is doing fairly well in Japan with over four million copies in print so far and the authors previous works, Ago Nashi Gen to Ore Monogatari and Yarisugi Companion to Atashi Monogatari have had adaptations in the last few years in the realm of mobile animation and live action film.

The cast for the series includes Hiroshi Kamiya asKyosh, Katsuyuki Konishi as Gakuto, Kenichi Suzumura as Shingo, Daisuke Namikawa as Joe, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Reiji “Andre” Andō, Sayaka Ohara as Mari, Shizuka Itou as Meiko, Kana Hanazawa as Hana, Keiji Fujiwara as Chairman Kurihara, Chinami Hashimoto as Chiyo Kurihara and You Taichi as Anzu Yokoyama.

The manga is licensed in North America by Yen Press while Funimation has the anime rights.

Plot concept: Hachimitsu Academy, known for its strict academic standards and even stricter school code, is making a giant change this year. In the first time in school history, they are allowing boys to be admitted. As Fujino Kiyoshi starts his first day at Hachimitsu Academy he is shocked to find out that there are only 4 other guys in the entire school, making the ratio of girls to boys 200:1. And to their dismay, not one of the thousand girls will talk to them or even acknowledge them. But Kiyoshi and the guys are about to find out about the shadow student council that has been threatening the female students about interacting with male students.
