If you’re like me and reaching maximum capacity in the number of streaming services you can subscribe to, you may not be seeing the new spring 2016 anime series Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress – thought at least Amazon is set to offer monthly subscriptions just for video streaming. What you can do, however, is check out the previews for it to see how the animation looks and if it’s going to be enough to tempt you into getting access to it. The fourth episode is lined up for a May 12th, 2016 debut and the first teaser for it has now arrived.
The series is one that will be interesting from a design perspective as it’s reuniting some Attack on Titan colleagues with director Tetsuro Araki and writer Ichiro Okouchi. Okouchi is the main force behind the original Code Geass story and most of its spinoffs as well as having done the first two Berserk features for their screenplays.
The cast includes Tasuku Hatanaka as Ikoma, Sayaka Senbongi as Mumei, Maaya Uchida as Ayame, Toshiki Masuda as Kurusu, Yuuki Kaji as Takumi, Kanae Oki as Kajika, Mariya Ise as Yukina, Ryota Ohsaka as Sukari, Kensuke Satou as Kibito and Mamoru Miyano as Biba.
Plot concept: The series takes place on the island country Hinomoto, where humans hide themselves in fortresses called stations against the threat of zombie-like beings with steel hearts known as “Kabane.” Only armored locomotives known as “Hayajiro” go between the stations.
