‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Films Getting New Titles

2 min read

Avengers Infinity War Part 1 Part 2With the way so many films are doing their best to avoid the numbering system for sequels or multi-part adventures as they tend to be easier to mock than usual, Marvel’s use of the part 1 & 2 formula for the upcoming Infinity War films was a surprise. That looks to be changing, however, as directors Joe and Anthony Russo are out doing press for Civil War and have revealed that a change is coming.

“The movies are two very different movies,” Joe told Uproxx.

Anthony said, “It is misleading,” when asked if the nature of the movies and the story goals don’t sync with the labeling

Joe added, “The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it. And, yes, that is a scoop: we will retitle them.”

Having worked on Captain America: The Winter Soldier and having done some writing work on Agent Carter, as well as doing the screenplay for Captain America: Civil War, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are on board for this venture as well with the script. The pair have done some script work on other films within the overall franchise, as polishes and nudges are common in this area, so they’re well versed in the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point.

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2 is planned to be shot back-to-back as part of one long production in 2016 and 2017, in anticipation of a May 2018 release for Part 1 and May 2019 release for Part 2.
