The latest sales rankings are in from Japan for manga and light novels for the week ending April 24th, 2016 and it certainly feels like things are down just a bit, likely owed to the chaos thrown about with the recent earthquake. That can shake business and customer patterns significantly in the short term as well as the long term. This week sees the latest Kingdom having a just under 400,000 unit debut while the latest Terra Formars comes in at just under 260,000 units, making for a good week for both. Seven Deadly Sins adds another 214,000 units, doubling what it did its first week, and we get solid if lighter than expected numbers for Attack on Titan and One Piece as the more casual buyers are likely putting things off amid other events. This week also sees the debut of Golden Kamui on the list with just under 110,000 units. The historical series from Satoru Noda in Young Jump is one to keep an eye out for.
On the light novel side, Sword Art Online again takes the top spot with another 33,000 units while its closest competition is the latest Aria the Scarlet Ammo at just under 20,000 for the 22nd volume.
