The Daichis Earth's Defense FamilyBandai Visual has brought another series to the surface that’s been out of print for too long with The Daichi’s – Earth’s Defense Family. Originally licensed and released by Geneon Entertainment USA, the full thirteen episode series is now streaming in its dubbed form on Hulu to check out. Those that subscribe to Hulu get to watch this show on their TV and mobile devices.

Check out some of our thoughts on the dub here!

Originally known as Chikyuu Bouei Kazoku, it was an original series from Bandai Visual and Group TAC that aired in the winter 2001 season. Created by Shoji Kawamori, he worked on the script and mechanical design while Tetsu Kimura served as the director.  Rolly performed the opening them while Akino Arai performed the ending theme song for the series.

The English dub cast includes Danny McKinnon, Anna Cummer, Lisa Ann Beley, John Murphy and Nicole Bouma

Plot concept: Yesterday, dad suffered as a programmer in a dead-end job, mom worked to forget her regrets about being married, sister struggled to balance her homework and keeping up the house and little brother used silly pranks and outrageous behavior to keep everyone laughing. Today, they are the Earth’s front line of defense against extraterrestrial invasion! Can they find a way to keep their family together while defeating the aliens on time and under budget?

  1. Cool. Underrated little show about the disintegrating Japanese nuclear family. Didn’t think I’d see it ever back in the scene. (And fun dub, of course. ;))
