Kosuke’s got a demon seed in him that needs to be purified by some real angels.
What They Say:
Kosuke is an everyday nice-guy college kid who suffers from a reoccurring nightmare where he’s a rampaging sex demon. He just can’t figure out why that is, as he sits down to play his favorite video games. One day a beautiful Goddess named Yoruzu appears before him, not to grant wishes, but to destroy him!
The Review:
Audio:
The audio presentation for this release is in the standard Kitty format of a pair of Japanese and English stereo mixes encoded at 192kbps. The show doesn’t have a whole lot of stretching to do as it’s mostly a dialogue and grunting based piece but it handles those aspects pretty well. There’s a decent balance to be had here with the mix and when it hits some of the slightly bigger scenes towards the end with the action, it doesn’t have impact but it comes across well. There’s little in the way of placement or depth here but the show handles what it’s intending to do pretty well. Dialogue is clean and clear throughout and we had no problems dropouts or distortions during regular playback.
Video:
Originally released in 2009, the transfer for this OVA series is presented in its original full frame aspect ratio. The three episodes here have a good clean look to them with a bright look and some decent animation overall. The show isn’t one that has a really wide or strong range to it but it’s bright and colorful throughout and it’s generally problem free. There are a few backgrounds that have a bit of noise to it when things get darker, and sometimes the animation isn’t as strong, but it avoids significant issues like cross coloration or break-up. Oh My Sex Goddess isn’t a top flight show with its animation quality but it’s decent and the transfer captures it well.
Packaging:
The design for this show certainly exudes a whole lot of fun from the cover as it has the three lead girls in swimsuits with a whole lot of skin visible while the logo is kind of mushed into them. There’s a good variety of colors here that works really well as it’s mostly dominated by the flesh tones. There’s also some white in the background from the slightly cloudy sky that’s there which lets all the skin showing stand out all the more. The back cover uses the same overall background but it’s fairly well muted with all that’s on top of it. There’s a very good ring of pictures around the edges while inside is a decent little summary of the overall premise of the show. The left side has an additional image of Fauna that’s really nice and appealing with her in a white dress. The bottom keeps to the usual things like the production information and a solid technical grid that’s accurate.
Menu:
The menu design for the release uses much the same elements as the front cover but expands it nicely. The characters are spread apart so there’s more room between them and the logo isn’t smooshed between them either. The cloud background is much more obvious in this form as well with a mild rainbow of colors that spreads over to it where we get the navigation as well. The layout is easy to navigate and I liked the look of it overall as it sets the mood pretty well. Submenus load quickly and access times are nice and fast. The show defaults to English language with sign/song subtitles though instead of reading our players’ language presets.
Extras:
Nothing at all.

Megachu!’s a three episode hentai series that makes an obvious play on the whole Oh My Goddess angle while making sure it’s all about the adult fun. The show plays with three angels, adds in a little devil goodness and plays around with a manager as well. There’s a good bit of fun to be had with the concept here and they work it nicely by making sure that while it has some familiar elements, it plays in its own realm as well.
The show revolves around Kosuke, a young man living in a small apartment building where he’s apparently the only tenant there. He’s stuck having some pretty intense dreams about his very attractive manager who treats him nicely and seems to know the things he’s into, such as a particular figure he’s eager to get, and those dreams are leaving him with some very hard mornings. But he’s generally a nice guy and does his best to hide it from her and doesn’t make any overt moves on her. He’s got the interest but he’s also got the restraint to know better. The manager has an amusing smile about the whole thing as it goes on though and that adds a nice touch to it.
Where his life goes in off the rails is while racing to the store, he ends up accosted by a pair of suddenly appearing beautiful young women, one of whom talks about how they have to kill him because of the impurity within him. Yet she’s hesitant to do so at first and then really gets into a panic when he companion ends up turning a magical flamethrower on Kosuke, turning him into quite the marshmallow. This causes Fauna to decide that she wants to protect and take care of him, so she saves him and convinces her angelic sister Jordh to help her out with him a little bit.
What Kosuke discovers once he’s awake is that somewhere in him is a devil seed impurity in him and he has the potential to be truly evil because of it. This explains some of his dreams about the manager as he has a very aggressive role with her that takes on a different tone once you learn this. Fauna wants to help purify him, which means a lot of sex and a lot of completing things in a way that allows his expression of love to be purified in her, takes on a good part of the focus. Jordh thinks it’s all a waste of time and further problems arise when their younger (but not too much younger) sister Lea arrives as well and she’s frustrated about what’s happening overall.
There’s the usual back and forth events that happen, especially as the girls crash with Kosuke and the manager wonders what it’s all about, so we get a variety of things that go on. A bit of time spent at the pool, a walk in the woods that introduces a wood nymph that gives Jordh some ideas on how to help Kosuke with his problem and a few other little misunderstandings that get thrown into the mix. Where it all starts to turn a bit darker is that the manager is actually a devil who has a mission to let Kosuke’s power come to light so that he can help usher in a whole lot of evil into the world. She’s simply continually thwarted by the goddesses that are now living with him.
Oh My Sex Goddess plays within a fun little realm as Kosuke tries his best to be a good guy but finds himself having to deal with some real problems. He blacks out every now and then when his darker side creeps up and he becomes aggressive with the women. With Fauna, the two find themselves having a real connection, tenuous as it is at the start, and it’s fun to watch them get closer together as it goes on. The show takes on a bigger tone towards the end as the devils make their play through the manager, but for the most part, the show is about having fun. Especially when Jordh comes up with a device to make sure that Kosuke can’t use his thing on anyone.
When it comes to the reason most people will watch this show, it’s pretty good overall as it keeps things relatively clean and without anything really dark and ominous. There’s some non-consensual material at times because of Kosuke’s dreams and the way he has the evil in him that surfaces, but when he spends time with the goddesses, it’s mostly a lot of good natured clean fun. There’s a bit of a simple feel to it mixed in with the mildly cute comedy that it manages to work rather well. With the character designs having a good look and kept simple, everything for the intimate scenes come together well and while it’s not something hugely memorable, it’s a good deal of fun to watch.
In Summary:
Oh My Sex Goddess takes a familiar idea with its parody title and runs pretty well with it by giving us a show that has three goddesses, a male lead with an actual interest in scoring and the more dangerous element of the devil and the devil seed. The show may not be a standout piece, but it’s a fun little work and the fact that it has three episodes and spends some actual time with all the characters without being forced into two episodes gives it a little extra nudge. With good character designs, lots of fun scenes and an actual story to it that works in its own way, Oh My Sex Goddess hits all the right spots for a one night stand.
