Digital Manga Publishing has a few weeks left ahead of it in the Kickstarter to exercise their 2014 license pickup of the Kimagure Orange Road manga. While we previously hit the funding needed for the first volume, it’s now achieved the first stretch goal of $56,900 that helps to unlock the second volume as an add-on. This is definitely welcome news since you know most fans that go in on the first volume of an omnibus are looking for more of it, though we’re still wary of it making it all the way to the end here. The third omnibus stretch goal is at $74,900, and with this second one being achieved we’re hoping to see more people step up in the process.
This release will be re-translated, re-edited and re-lettered for both new print and digital runs and the initial plan is to get the first omnibus funded – which it will by the end of the weekend if not sooner – and then expand from there with stretch goals to cover the rest, up to six volumes.

The eighteen-volume series has long been sought after for a full and officially translated release since the anime was picked up in the 90′s by AnimEigo where it got VHS, LD and DVD releases for the OVAs, movie and TV series.
The series is written by Izumi Matsumoto and was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump. It gained fame with the anime adaptation that was produced by Studio Pierrot and directed by veteran animator Osamu Kobayashi with character designs by Akemi Takada and scripts by Kenji Terada.
Plot Concept: Teenage romance meets fantasy in this series as a love triangle develops between the main character, an indecisive esper named Kyōsuke Kasuga, Madoka Ayukawa, a mercurial and enigmatic girl with a tough past, and Hikaru Hiyama, Madoka’s ditzy and energetic best friend. Kyōsuke falls in love with Madoka, and Madoka wants to return those feelings, but can not because of Hikaru’s involvement with Kyōsuke.
