Warner Bros. Japan is handling the home video release for the second season of this franchise with Terra Formars Revenge. The thirteen episode season is getting seven-volume release with two episodes per disc with the last one having only one. Interestingly, it’s getting a full DVD box set on September 28th, 201y priced at 8,900 yen while having single Blu-ray’s released around it with some good additional extra material in the form of six drama CDs and an original soundtrack. The Blu-ray’s are priced at 6,400 yen each with the seventh being priced at 5,000 yen and those begin release on June 22nd, 2016.
Unlike the first season, no English subtitles are listed at this time and may be due to Viz Media picking up overseas licensing rights.
The series was animated at LIDEN Films again with TYO Animations, but it was directed by Michio Fukuda. Series composition was handled by Naruhisa Arakawa while character designs were done by Cagetzu Aizawa and Atsushi Ikariya.
The series stars Yoshimasa Hosoya as Akari Hizamaru, Hidenobu Kiuchi as Shōkichi Komachi, Shizuka Itou as Michelle, Kaito Ishikawa as Marcos, KENN as Alex, Ai Kayano as Sheila, Daisuke Ono as Keiji Onizuka, Chiaki Takahashi as Kanako Sanjō, Aki Toyosaki as Yaeko Yanasegawa, Tomokazu Sugita as Ichirō Hiruma, Koji Yusa as Adolf Reinhard, Akira Ishida as Joseph, Unshou Ishizuka as Sylvester, Tetsuo Komura as Liu Yiwu, Ayane Sakura as Eva Frost, Kenji Akabane as Ivan Perepelkina, Romi Park as Elena Perepelkina, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Shichisei Hiruma, Tooru Nara as Alexander Asimov, Nozomi Sasaki as Hong, Hidenori Takahashi as Jet, Sayaka Ohara as Xi Chunli, Yuuki Ono as Bao Zhilan and Takahiro Fujiwara as Borgijin Dorjiberke.
The first season was produced at LIDEN FILMS with Hiroshi Hamasaki directing based on scripts by Shogo Ysukawa. Character designs were done by Masanori Shino while Satoshi Kimura did the secondary character design work.
Plot concept: TERRAFORMARS makes its anime debut as a startling work of science fiction and adventure. With Earth becoming increasingly overpopulated, an ambitious plan has been put into place to terraform Mars using mold and cockroaches. Nearly 500 years after the plan, a mission to Mars, Annex 1, is under way to accomplish crucial research into the Virus currently plaguing mankind with the crew members who’ve been injected with various DNA of life on Earth in order to combat the Terraformars, giant humanoid cockroaches.
