‘Deadpool’ Sequel Formally Confirmed

1 min read

DeadpoolWhen your low budget for a superhero film works off of a $50 million budget and brings in $757.3 million worldwide – and counting – you can pretty much be sure that there will be a sequel. February’s Deadpool film has done very good business overall and Fox has made the announcement at CinemaCon this week that they’re going to bring the band back together for the sequel. While no date has been formalized for it, it’ll feature the return of Tim Miller as director and star Ryan Reynolds. It was also confirmed that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will return to write the sequel as they definitely showed that they got the character – something studio execs pretty much said previously that they never understood, hence it languishing for so many years.

It’s unknown at this point if any other actors will return, though it’s presumed several will – and that we might see the Merc with the Mouth show up elsewhere before his sequel as well.
