Right Stuf has a long history with the 1963 anime series Astro Boy and now through their Nozomi Entertainment YouTube channel they’re beginning to bring out some of the episodes there. The series from Osamu Tezuka, where he wrote and directed a good portion of it, was one of the first big exposures of anime in North America and created a generation of fans. The series saw a host of great talent go through it over its 193 episode run including Yoshiyuki Tomino, Osamu Dezaki and Rintaro, all of who wrote or directed episodes.
Plot concept: In the year 2000 A.D., the brilliant scientist Dr. Boynton, grief-stricken when he loses his son, Astor Boynton III, in an automobile accident, decides to create a super-robot in Astor’s image. He calls the robot Astro Boy. Astro Boy can swim oceans, leap over mountains, even fly into space on his own power!
