Media Blasters showcases ‘Rio: Rainbow Gate’ Blu-ray Anime Cover

Rio Rainbow GateMedia Blasters announced in February that they’re working on producing a new dub for their license Rio: Rainbow Gate, which was previously released as a subtitled-only show. We’re still short on details but the distributor has now revealed the work in progress cover for the series which is definitely appealing. Media Blasters has set Amber Lee Connors to write and direct the dub with production done by Sound Cadence Studios and Fever Dreams Sound Factory.

Based on the pachinko games of the same name in Japan, the series was directed by Takao Kato based on scripts by Mayori Sekijima. It was animated by Xebec and originally aired in the winter 2011 season for thirteen episodes as well as having a bonus episode.

Plot concept: In an island casino called the Howard Resort, Rio Rollins Tachibana is a popular casino dealer with the ability to bring good luck to gamblers just by walking past them, earning her nickname “The Goddess of Victory”. Rio’s life soon changes when it is revealed that she is a “Gate Holder” a dealer who holds one of the 13 legendary cards called “Gates” Whoever collects them all will be named “Most Valuable Casino Dealer”. To collect all 13 Gates, Rio must take part in special matches with other Gate Holders; in the Gate Battles, she must gain the others’ Gates to become the most valuable casino dealer in the world.
