At AnimeJapan 2016, the Fate franchise staff announced that the previously reported (back in 2014) movie adaptation of the third route from the Type-Moon visual novel Fate/stay night will now be a three-picture affair, with the first film slated to arrive in 2017 (no word yet on when the other two will follow). The studio behind the current Fate adaptations, ufotable, is on board for the film trilogy and Tomonori Sudou will be in the director’s chair. It had already been revealed that Takahiro Miura was providing the storyboards. Property concept: Fuyuki City—a city surrounded by the ocean and the mountains becomes the setting for an age-old ritual. These heroic spirits or servants are: “Saber,” “Lancer,” “Archer,” “Rider,” “Caster,” “Assassin,” “Berserker.” Each master will enter into a contract with their assigned servants and battle the other masters and servants to the death until only one pair remains… This is the “Holy Grail War.”
The third route of the game focuses on the character of Sakura Matou. Last year, a manga adaptation of the same route began serialization in Young Ace magazine.
