With the TV series JK-Meshi! finishing up its broadcast run, distributor Polydor has now set the Japanese home video release plans for it. The show is getting a two-disc release with both of them arriving on the same day, June 29th, 2016. They’ll be priced at 3,980 yen each and will be a DVD release only. Each set will have half the series and so far it looks like just some promos/commercials as the extras for it.
The series was done as three-minute shorts that were animated at Kyofu Tomato and Office Noble. The show was directed by Fujitsuka with Horishi Namiki and Michiki Matsumoto dealing with the animation at the respective studios.
The cast includes Natsuko Hara as Reina Saeki, Nao Fujita as Sayaka Asahina and Sora Tokui as Ruriko Igarashi.
Plot concept: In Japanese, “JK” is an abbreviation for “joshi kousei”, or high school girl, and “meshi” means “cooked rice” or “meal”, so it is only suitable that the anime focuses on 3 high school girls, Reina, Ryoka, and Ruriko, who have mastered the art of cooking simple, B-class dishes called JK meshi. Cooking enthusiasts or those who simply want to learn will want to tune in to this show, as the anime will show viewers how to cook dishes by showing common ingredients and simple, easy-to-learn steps.
