Japanese distributor Media Factory has set the home video release plans for the Shin Atashinchi series with plans for two box sets that will land on DVD this year. Priced at 6,458 yen each, the firs tone will arrive on May 25th, 2016 while the second will arrive on September 28th, 2016. They’ll have thirteen episodes each for a total of 312 minutes per volume. The first set will come with a box to hold both sets and on-disc extras include the clean opening with it.
With seventeen years worth of manga during the original run, ATASHIn’CHI had a solid TV anime adaptation that ran for 330 episodes between 2002 and 2009. With the manga from Eiko Kera ending back in 2012, citing the uncertainty of where to go with it due to now being older than the adult characters, and also citing a changed perspective following 2011 earthquake, Kera came back earlier this year with some new material and a new anime adaptation.
Plot concept: Outrageous misadventures of an almost normal family with a housewife, her husband, and their two kids Yuusuke and Mikan. Wacky humor about this weird family’s daily life.
