NBC Universal Japan has announced a new Blu-ray box set for the series Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai, which was localized as This Ugly Yet Beautiful World when released by ADV Films in North America previously. The set set is scheduled for a May 25th, 2016 release that will be priced at 18,000 yen for the complete run. The series originally aired in the spring 2014 anime season and was directed by Shouji Saeki with Kazuhiro Takamura serving as the character designer and chief animation director. Hiroyuki Yamaga worked on the series composition and it was produced by Gainax and Shaft.
Plot concept: High school student Takeru Takemoto works part time as a (motor)bike courier. During one of his deliveries, he saw a mysterious light passing him and fell into a forest. What he had found was a beautiful girl coming out from a glowing cocoon, calling herself “Hikari.” While Takeru was quite embarrassed because of Hikari’s nudity, a strange monster suddenly showed up and immediately attacked the two. Both Takeru and Hikari demonstrated the power of their other selves before Takeru had a clue of what’s going on.
