Japanese ‘Sengoku Majin Goshogun’ Blu-ray Anime Box Set Gets Minor Delay

2 min read

Sengoku Majin GoshogunSomething you don’t see too often, especially in contrast to some of the delays we used to see on the US side, are delays in Japanese releases. While King Records has previously scheduled a new Blu-ray box set for the Sengoku Majin Goshogun TV series and movie for a March 23rd, 2016 release date, that’s now slipped. Thankfully for fans it’s not a long delay as sometimes these just go into indefinitely delayed. This release is being pushed back two weeks to April 6th, 2016 with no reasoning attached. The set is  priced at 50,000 yen. Originally teased for a release back in 2009, the set will contain five Blu-ray discs and three CD releases in a large box with a new booklet as well as a smaller sized reproduction of the original theatrical brochure. The first four Blu-ray discs will have the TV series while the fifth will have the movie. The CD side will have the music and some radio drama material it appears.

Plot concept: A meteor strikes the Earth and is found to emanate a powerful new energy called Beamler, which is used to power a battle robot, GoShogun, and a teleporting fortress, Good Thunder. The Docougar Crime Syndicate, lead by crime lord Neo Neros, try to steal the secret of the energy from the inventor of GoShogun, but he kills himself rather than let them acquire it. His son is targeted by Neo Neros next, but he is taken in by the crew aboard Good Thunder, who travel the world fighting NeoNeros’s forces with GoShogun.
