After working through the singles previously for both Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul √A, TC Entertainment is now looking to grab the next round of potential buyers with Blu-ray box sets for each. The sets bring out everything that was in the original releases in regards to extras and also apparently the original CD and booklets as well. The first season set is coming out on June 29th, 2016 while the second set is planned for September 30th, 2016. Both are priced at 23,760 yen each.
The original work comes from Sui Ishida, who ended the first arc of the manga with volume fourteen and kicked off the sequel manga series Tokyo Ghoul:re. The first season starred Natsuki Hanae as Ken Kaneki, Sora Amamiya as Toka Kirishima and Hanazawa Kanaas as Rize Kamishiro. Mamoru Miyano also joined the cast as Shu Tsukiyama along with Takayuki Sugo, Sumire Morohoshi, Katsuyuki Konishi, Yuichi Nakamura, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, Shintaro Asanuma and Takahiro Sakurai as Uta. Originally starting serialization in Young Jump back in September 2011, the series has done well for a first-time creator who has no other published works to his name in the field.
Plot concept: In modern day Tokyo, society lives in fear of Ghouls: mysterious creatures who look exactly like humans — yet hunger insatiably for their flesh. None of this matters to Ken Kaneki, a bookish and ordinary young man, until a dark and violent encounter turns him into the first ever Ghoul-human half breed. Trapped between two worlds, Ken must survive the violent conflicts of warring Ghoul factions, while attempting to learn more about Ghoul society, his newfound powers, and the fine line between man and monster.
