Strange But True: ‘Jing King of Bandits’ Anime Getting Funimation UK Streaming

2 min read

Jing King of Bandits HeaderThe listings of titles coming from Funimation for their UK & Ireland launch continues to have a few oddballs in there that just make you laugh at the weirdness that is anime licensing. After expiring the Jing: King of Bandits show on the North American side earlier this year across their various services, Funimation UK has now revealed that they have the three part OVA series as part of their plans for the launch this month. This OVA series originally was released back in 2004 and followed the same pattern as the TV series.

The TV series originally ran back in 2002 and was licensed by ADV Films and then distributed by Funimation since they went out of business. The show originally ran for thirteen episodes but only a few episodes are currently left streaming on Hulu in bilingual form. Funimation delisted their pages recently for it as well. The last release of the show on DVD was back in 2009 and various editions run high on the secondary market.

Plot concept: Jing, the infamous King of Bandits, finds himself and his feathered partner Kir behind bars in Seventh Heaven, the most notorious prison complex in the world. There, they seek to steal the Dream Orb from the convict Campari. But before doing so, they must escape from the prison of dreams that Campari has conjured for them.
