The first week of sales for March in Japan has arrived for the home video releases of many an anime series and film and there are definitely some interesting things going on. While the first volume of Osomatsu made a lot of waves with it moving over 100,000 units, there was a lot of curiosity if the second volume could do the same between the two formats. In its second week the volume has now sold over 72,000 copies and is certainly looking to keep tha tup with additional sales. It may not make it to 100,000 copies like the first, at least not right away or as fast, but it’s definitely doing some great numbers.
This week has some low selling sets coming out that may not move a lot of numbers but when they’re a few hundred bucks each it can generate some solid income – especially for properties that monetized previous in singles or other formats. Such as the case with the Digimon Adventure 02 set and the Precure! material. The Bakemono no Ko release continues to add some good numbers this week as does the Date A Live feature film.
