Ghost in the Shell LogoThe latest actor that looks to be joining the live-action Ghost in the Shell feature out of Hollywood is Beat Takeshi, who is coming on board the film as Daisuke Aramaki. Aramaki is a key player in the overall franchise as he serves as the founder for Public Security Section 9 and serves as its chief as well. Takeshi hasn’t done a Hollywood film since the mid 90’s with his work in Johnny Mnemonic, so it’ll definitely be interesting to see how this unfolds for him. It’s a welcome connection to the property’s country of origin and while Takeshi may not be the biggest anime fan in the world, his film work will definitely attract more attention.

The feature is set to debut on March 31st, 2017 and is set to be directed by Rupert Sanders and is being produced by Avi Arad and Steven Paul with Mark Saurian as executive producer. Scarlett Johansson stars as the lead, Pilou Asbæk as Batou, Michael Pitt, and Sam Riley.

Property concept: The story follows a female special ops cyborg who leads a fictional counter-cyberterrorist organization called Public Security Section 9 for Hanka Robotics. The unit is devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, led by The Laughing Man who will stop at nothing to destroy Hanka’s advancements in cyber technology.
