‘Unhappy’ Anime Gets New Cast Key Visual

2 min read

Unhappy HeaderThe anime production for the upcoming series Unhappy has updated the official site with a new cast visual that you can see below. The designs for it are definitely solid looking and the detail is great, making this a show that should be pretty appealing. Back in December, the show was given a slightly different name as things are formalizing around social media accounts as it’s being called Anne Happy. We’ll hold onto calling it Unhappy until we see how streaming/localization goes since Anne Happy just sounds damn weird.

The previously announced cast includes:

  • Yumiri Hanamori as An Hanakoizumi
  • Haruka Shiraishi as Ruri Hibarigaoka
  • Kiyono Yasuno as Botan Kumegawa
  • Hibiku Yamamura as Hibiki Hagyuu
  • Mayu Yoshioka as Ren Ekoda
  • Yumi Hara as Kodaira-sensei
  • Chitose Morinaga as Timothy

The series is set for the spring 2016 anime season and will be produced by Silver Link. Shin Oonuma is on board to direct based on scripts by Hitoshi Tanaka. Miwa Oshima is serving as both character designer and chief animation director.

Four volumes have been released so far since it debuted at the end of 2012.

Plot concept: The story centers around class 1-7 of Tennogofune Academy, where all the students with “bad karma” or misfortune seem to have been gathered. Hibari, a student in this class, meets the unlucky Hanako and the perennially unhealthy Botan on her first day of school, and together they try to find a way to turn their school life into a happy one.
