We mentioned this a bit earlier in the month in our daily updates of new streaming episodes but wanted to separate it out as well. In an effort to draw more fans into viewing dubbed anime online to spur home video sales, Funimation has now brought out the complete run of the Dragonar Academy series onto the service for viewing. It’s not part of the subscriber side as an exclusive so anyone in the right region can check it out here. Or just watch the trailer below and decide if you’re ready for what it has to offer.

Check out our review of the DVD/BD regular edition set here.

The extras for this release includes Episode Commentary (2, 7), Commercials, Promotional Videos and the Textless Opening and Closing Sequences.

The series is originally known as Seikoku no Ryuu Kishi, which is translated into Dragonar Academy. The light novels began back in 2010 (with a manga adaptation following in 2011) and the series, authored by Shiki Mizuchi with illustrations by Kohada Shimesaba, has had twenty volumes published so far. The anime series was part of the spring 2014 season.

Plot concept: “Problem child” Ash Blake is nothing but a nuisance to his fellow students at Ansullivar Dragonar Academy. Sure, he’s got the sacred star brand that marks him as a future master of dragons, but his lack of dragon companion and hot temper make it more than a little difficult for him to play the part of the hero. That is, until his dragon awakens, and he’s finally partnered with a fierce, fire-breathing…cute girl? And her human form isn’t the only surprise; she’s determined to be Ash’s master. But when dark forces begin to endanger the lives of dragons and students, Ash and his partner must find a way to work together to defeat them! Busty babes, undead evils, and high-flying action take center stage in this thrilling adventure.
