With the Assassination Classroom manga from Yusei Matsui having generated two seasons of anime that ran for two cour each, it’s somewhat surprising to learn that the manga will be ending in five chapters, according to the latest Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The manga is set to end with the 16th issue towards the end of March where it’ll coincide with the actual school year graduation for many students, allowing the characters to graduate at the same time.
The series is bringing out its 18th volume in Japan next month and will conclude with the 19th volume in early April. Viz Media is releasing it in North America and they brought out the eighth volume earlier this month, leaving them with a good bit of material to go that will coincide with Funimation’s upcoming releases of the anime series on home video.
Series concept: A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he’s the best teacher they’ve ever had!
