Please Tell Me Galko-chan Episode 6The burning questions continue!

What They Say:
Galko, Otako and Ojou are a trio of unlikely friends in high school with three very different perspectives. Each episode embarks on a day in the life of a trendy girl, an otaku, and a lady, as they discuss their “girl problems.”

Galko-chan kind of delighted with a surprise last week with her older sister making an appearance, albeit with her head cut off. That provided for some fun in seeing the kind of influence she has on Galko’s life and personality since such things can make a big impact. The show worked through familiar gags to be sure while also dealing with more “mature” material and the added influence of an elder character even a little bit helped to smooth things out a bit. Of course, the fun is still primarily in watching how the core trio deal with each other, but I’ve enjoyed the way they’ve brought in some of the boys and occasionally other girls as well to expand upon it a bit.

The early part of this episode has a lot of fun with Galko getting all up in her head because she hears that a person’s lips are what their genitals look like and she can’t un-see it. That makes for some amusing commentary on others and also the ways in which she tries to think of how she’s presenting herself as well in case others are thinking about it. Suffice to say, lip service takes on a whole new meaning here. The second half shifts to some fun about bras and the problems of them being visible through certain shirt and that has its own fun because it is a real and true struggle – and not just for high school girls. It delves into some other areas as well that girls have to deal with while still bringing in enough humor woth Ojou and her misunderstandings of the situation as well as the way her wealth puts her on a whole other level.

In Summary:
The show works through some fun material without being gut-busting in its humor. There’s plenty to make you grin and laugh though, particularly with the first part. The third story is a bit quieter overall but it serves as a fun fashion piece with the trio going shopping, which is likely frustrating for Otako since everything Galko picks for herself just shows off her assets in a big way. It’s fun to watch the friends out and about and the ways they do have fun as we do manage to get a smile or two out of Otako, which is difficult to do.
