‘Deadpool’ Sequel Greenlit

2 min read

DeadpoolTracking has been very good for Deadpool for the past couple of months and with positive reactions from early showings to critics and select audiences and very positive response to the amusing advertising campaign in place, Fox has put in the green light for a sequel. We knew previously that the screenwriters were hopeful for this, obviously, but that they had also put plans out for what they would do should it get one. Which is going to work out as it looks like they’ll be coming back for the sequel along with the director and the main cast.

So enjoy the ‘merc this coming weekend safe in the knowledge that he’ll be back for more. And that hopefully this will get the X-Force move pushed into production as well.

The first film is set for a February 12th, 2016 release directed by Tim Miller based on a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It’s set to star Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller and Gina Carano.

Plot concept: Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
