After the first blush details arrived earlier this week, new details have arrived regarding the home video release of the new winter 2016 anime series Kono Danshi, Mahou ga Oshigoto Desu. The series is getting a single DVD release on April 15th, 2016 priced at 2,160 yen and now it’s been revealed that it will also have English subtitles included. The cover artwork has also been released and we’ve learned that the extras will include the promo video and trailer, the clean opening sequence, and the commercial spot
The series is a four-episode show that was placed within the Ultra Super Anime Time block. The cast includes Yuuki Ono as Chiharu Kashima while Taku Yashiro is on board as Toyohi Utsumi.
The title itself may not be familiar, but the first two works have been licensed and released in North America already. Released by Sentai Filmworks, we’ve seen This Boy Can Fight Aliens and This Boy Caught A Merman previously. The third and fourth iterations of the series, were done as a CD and an OVA respectively with Kono Danshi, Akunin to Yobaremasu and This Boy Suffers From Crystallization.
Soubi Yamamoto returned from the work she did on the OVAs to work on this TV series as well. Yamamoto’s previous TV work was the Meganebu! series, which also was picked up and licensed by Sentai Filmworks.
Plot concept: Chiharu Kashima is the captain of the Wizard Bureau’s Crisis Countermeasures Division. One day, he meets a friendly man named Toyohi Utsumi at the bar he frequents. Soon after the meeting, Utsumi confesses, “I’ve fallen in love with Kashima-san.” Kashima is taken aback, but the two soon begin to spend more time together.
