Sound Euphonium Film VisualIt’s a new year and that means a renewed marketing approach for the upcoming theatrical Sound! Euphonium anime feature film. What we get this time around is a really great visual that we’re sure to see used regularly as the main theatrical poster and likely the home video release as well. The movie that will serve as a compilation of the first TV season that aired previously this year. It’ll be called Sound! Euphonium the Movie: Welcome to the Kitauji High School Concert Band and now has a firm date of April 23rd, 2016 when it’ll make its theatrical debut.

A sequel TV series is also in the works. The TV series will be a follow-up to the first season and not a side story. The property already had a new OVA coming up with the seventh volume of the manga that came out on December 16th, 2015.

Check out our review of the first season.

Plot concept: It’s finally time for Kumiko Oumae to enter high-school and begin the next chapter of her life. Being a member of concert band all throughout the lower-grades, one of her first orders of business is scouting out the band at her new school to see how they compare to what she has grown up with. After actually hearing them, however, Kumiko is…surprised to say the least. The concert band of Kitauji High School is terrible, especially compared to the borderline-national’s band Oumae was in earlier. Students in the band have gotten lazy and fallen into a slump in which none of them particularly care about the band’s future. But all of that changes when they meet their new teacher, professional composer Noboru Taki.
