The summer 2013 anime series Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya has its new Blu-ray box set coming out soon for the first season in Japan and we’ve gotten some interesting artwork previously. Now the final design has been revealed and we know exactly what they’re doing with it. The artwork to the right that we had before and thought may be placeholder artwork is actually the illustration side for the digipak, so we’ll definitely be seeing it in the packaging. What we now have that you can see below is a look at the artwork for the box which looks to be going for a clean white look with the two main characters taking opposite sides in full transformation mode, which looks fantastic.
Set to arrive on February 26th, 2016, the release will be priced at 30,240 yen. It’ll be released on two Blu-ray discs and will feature the same extras as the singles. The original commentary tracks will be included as well as the bookltse while other on-disc extras include the clean opening and closings, promos and other commercial footage.
The series is set in an alternate universe to the popular Fate/Stay Night franchise is directed by Shin Oonuma (Dusk maiden of Amnesia, ef ~ a tale of memories) and features character designs by Nozomi Ushijima, with series composition by Kenji Inoue and music by Tatsuya Katou.
Plot Concept: Illyaviel von Einzbern is an ordinary middle school student who becomes a magical girl when the magical Kaleidostick Ruby deems her a more suitable master than the sorceress, Rin Tosaka. Rin, who had been tasked by the wizard Zelretch to collect the seven Class Cards containing the spirits of Heroic Spirits from legend, finds that she is unable to change Ruby’s mind and must supervise Illya in completing the task of collecting the Class Cards. During Illya’s adventures, she receives a friend and rival in a girl named Miyu, the contracted master of the Kaleidostick Sapphire, which similarly abandoned its original master and Rin’s rival, Luvia Edelfelt.
