Neko Neko NihonshiThe Internet will have a new cat fetish to play with this spring as it’s been announced that an anime adaptation has been in the works for Neko Neko Nihonshi, a series that provides its history lessons with cats as the characters. The work comes from the manga of the same name by Kenji Sonishi and it’s scheduled to premiere on April 6th as part of a variety program where it’ll have a nine minute or so running time. The anime adaptation is directed by Tomohiro Kawamura at studio Joker Films. The scripts are being produced by Ryo Takada and Kyo Shimizu.

The original work began fairly recently as there is only one volume out with the second due out on February 9th, 2016.

Plot concept: The series imagines if Japanese historical figures such as Queen Himiko, the warlord Oda Nobunaga, and samurai Sakamoto Ryōma were cats.
