‘Saint Beast’ Anime Begins Streaming

2 min read

Saint BeastViewster picked up the property Saint Beast back in the fall of last year and is now starting to capitalize on it with the release of the first episode on their streaming service. The company looks to be bringing out episodes on a weekly basis in its original Japanese language form with English subtitles, marking the first time it’s legally available for viewing. Originally a six episode OVA series in 2003 that then saw a full TV series produced in 2007, the thirteen episode run has been picked up in full. Wonderfarm animated both releases of the series, though Tokyo Kids participated in the TV series. A two episode OVA series was also produced in 2005 and 2006 with Madhouse assisting, but that’s not included in this.

The property comes from Kei Arisugawa and was directed by Harume Kosaka.

Plot concept: A long time ago, Zeus, the great god, created a three–tier hierarchy of angels, top, middle and lower, although they were supposed to be equal. Also, Zeus appointed 6 angels as Saint Beasts who govern the animals of Earth. They were: Go, the seiyu; Shin, the genbu; Rei, the suzaku; Guy, the byakko; Yuda, the kirin; and Ruka, the hooh. However, Kira, the shooting star, and Maya, the fuga, didn’t attend the selection tests and left for the Earth.

The six angels fulfilled their tasks faithfully. However, because of Zeus’s increasingly tyrannical acts, they begin to mistrust him.
