While we’re used to DVD-only releases for short-form anime series, we’re starting to see more that are Blu-ray only. Joining those ranks is Hackadoll, one of the fall season Ultra Super Anime Time block shows. After getting the home video release details back in October, we’ve now got the cover artwork for the second and final release that’s about to hit. The show is getting a two volume release on Blu-ray with a December 25th, 2015 release and a January 29th, 2016 release. They’re being priced at 6,264 yen each and will have a six-episode and seven episode split for the thirteen episode series that runs about eight minutes per episode.
The series will star Nanami Yamashita, Kaya Okuno, Miyu Takagi and Reimi Yukarino. The show is set to be directed by Ikuo Geso and comes from Creators in Pack and Studio Trigger.
Plot concept: The anime personifies the app’s customization engine as three “HackaDolls”, all of whom are voiced by members of the voice-actress unit Wake Up, Girls! — the personal entertainment AI and main navigator HackaDoll #1 (played by Miyu Takagi), the anime expert HackaDoll #2 (Kaya Okuno), and the knowledgeable otaku HackaDoll #3 (Nanami Yamashita).
