Sad news for fans of Squid Girl, aka Shinryaki! Ika Musume, as creator Masahiro Anbe has revealed in the 21st volume of the series that the property is going to end with the next volume. The series has been serialized in Shounen Champion magazine since 2007 and has received two TV series and a few OVAs along the way. The anime adaptation was released in North America by Media Blasters after being simulcast on Crunchyroll, but the manga never saw an acquisition.
Plot concept: The sea in our world has been polluted. All sorts of trash were thrown into it, making it unpleasant deep down in the sea. One of the inhabitants of the sea, Ika Musume (Squid Girl) seeks to exact revenge on humanity for throwing trash into the sea. Clueless about the surface, she seeks to invade humanity alone, trying to rule over the world… only to find herself enslaved by one of the nearest beach-houses for breaking one side of the wall!
