The winter 2016 anime adaptation of the Oshiete! Galko-chan! manga from Kenya Suzuki landed earlier today and the home video release information is now out there as well as the first TV spot encouraging folks to go and order it. The series is getting a Blu-ray only release with two volumes planned, six episodes per volume, priced at 6,000 yen each. They’ll be available on April 27th, 2016 and May 25th, 2016. The release will contain an audio commentary, the various radio drama pieces, a booklet, and an audio drama CD as well as the clean opening sequence.

The show was animated at studio Feel with Keiichirou Kawaguchi directing and Kenji Fujisaki providing the character designs for it.

The announced cast for the series includes Azumi Waki as Galko, Miyu Tomita as Otako, Minami Takahashi as Ojou, Takahiro Sakurai as Charao, Daisuke Ono as Supoo, Shizuka Ishigami as Agemi, Kaede Hondo as Yabana, Juri Kimura as Nikuko, Yuuko Iida as Okako, Ayaka Suwa as Iinchou, Yuna Yoshino as Ouji, Ai Kakuma as Metako, Yurika Kubo as Fushigi-chan, Makoto Furukawa as Bomuo, Yukiyo Fujii as Kuseta, Sayaka Senbonki as Tsunno and Saori Oonishi as Kibami.

The manga began in June 2014 via Comic Walker and has over sixty chapters published at this point and is ongoing. The series is Suzuki’s third, having worked on Rousoku-hime and Samuku naru to Kata wo Yosete previously. Seven Seas Entertainment recently licensed the manga.

Plot concept: Follow the daily school life of Gyaruko-chan, Otako, and Ojyo in this series of comedic short stories. Gyaruko-chan has a tendency to speak rudely, but she’s basically friends with everyone. Otako is the quiet loner of the class, but she is good friends with Gyaruko-chan. Ojyo speaks her mind freely and naturally.
