While the fourth movie didn’t perform quite as well as the third installment, fans were feeling somewhat enthusiastic about a fifth installment since it looked like Michael Bay was taking most of his earnings and funneling it into other projects. But now word from the director in a new lengthy “Rolling Stone” piece has revealed that ht’es coming back to direct the fifth one that’s due out in 2017.
“I’m doing Transformers … 5, is it?” he tells the magazine. “I’ve taken on a lot of work.”
Bay has said that he was done with the franchise after both the third and fourth films, so his saying this will be his last likely means little, though one can certainly hope.
Paramount may not be raking in the critical acclaim for the films, but they’re definitely doing some very good thigns for the distributor in the financial arena.
