While some teasing of March surfaced over the weekend for the second season of Daredevil, the folks at ComicBook.com have worked their contacts to get an actual premiere date for the series. According to their various sources, the series will debut its run of episodes on March 25th, 2016, working in similar fashion to other Netflix shows in all episodes being available at once.
The date is certainly…. interesting. For those that pay attention to dates, it’s the same weekend that Batman V Superman hits theaters, which means a lot of interest in superhero material in general. While some may see this as a challenge for fans or a shot across the bow, it really isn’t anything more than smart marketing. Fans that want to see the film in theaters will go, fans that want to watch the show will see it. Most won’t marathon the whole thing – hell, I just finished Jessica Jones last night! So any attempts to make it a battle royale won’t really connect, especially since the national campaign for Batman V Superman will be everywhere.
Now, about that Daredevil season 1 Blu-ray set that hasn’t been announced yet…
The new season is doing some solid expanding while still working within Hell’s Kitchen as they’re utilizing their returned license of The Punisher with Jon Bernthal taking on the role while also updating and introducing Elektra to the Marvel Universe here as played by Elodie Young.
The show stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, Jon Bernthal and Elodie Yung.
Plot concept: Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the Super Hero “Daredevil” in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
