If you have followed The Fandom Post for the past couple years you may know that around this time of year (and again around mid-August) that it’s time for only one thing: Comic Market, the twice-yearly doujin marketplace and convention, attended by over half a million people, which consumes the sprawling Tokyo Big Sight for three straight days of fevered buying, selling, lines, cosplay, lines, and cosplay.

Our friend kijakusai has again compiled some of the best of Japanese-based social media that increasingly supports and compliments the event, from the martial preparations of its volunteers to the lonesome farewells of its last attendees, and the Dashing Otaku, peculiar doujinshi, industry tie-ins, cosplayers, and endless crowds that fill up the middle.

To follow along at home, the Twitter hashtags #C89 and #C89COS (for cosplay) are good jumping-off points. Also see the @comiketofficial and @comiket_cosplay feeds.
