With a pickup by Sentai Filmworks yesterday, anticipation has risen a bit for the Norn9 anime series that’s set to debut as part of the winter 2016 anime season. With Comic Market 89 fully underway, the folks at NBC Universal Japan have now cut and released a second full-length promotional video for the show that does a really great job of highlighting the tone and animation style for the series. The anime adaptation of Norn9: Norn+Nonet will make its premiere on January 7th, 2016 in Japan on most major broadcasters.
Originally announced in March 2014 as getting the green light, the project is from the game that came from Otomate which was released by Idea Factory back in 2013. The series is directed by Takao Abo with series composition by Natsuko Takahashi. Yukari Takeuchi is taking on the duties of chief animation director and character designer. It’s being animated at Kinema Citrus x Orange.
The announced cast for it includes Ayumi Fujimura as Koharu, Yuuki Kaji as Kakeru Yuiga, Hiro Shimono as Senri Ichinose, Takuya Satou as Masamune Toya, Ayahi Takagaki as Mikoto Kuga, Daisuke Ono as Natsuhiko Azuma, Mitsuki Saiga as Sakuya Nijo, Kouji Yusa as Itsuki Kagami, Asami Seto as Nanami Shiranui, Noriaki Sugiyama as Akito Syukuri, Tomokazu Sugita as Ron Muroboshi, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Heishi Otomaru, Atsushi Abe as Sorata Suzuhara, Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Setsu Takishima, Kenji Hamada as Shiro Yuiga and Nagi Yanagi as Aion.
Plot concept: The story takes place a little in the future. Guided by one particular song, young elementary school student Suzuhara Sorata, from the Heisei Era, is warped through a time skip to an unfamiliar place that looks much like the towns from the Meiji or Taishou period from his textbooks. In this world, he meets three young ladies and nine young men and joins them on a journey aboard the mysterious Norn ship, a giant globe that floats in midair.
