The final episode of the season has arrived and like the rest of the show it’s pretty random and out there as you’d expect – and want it to be. While we get our obligatory brief bit with the menoussoue at the beginning, it dives head first into things after that with a meteorite set to hit the city soon. So soon that posters were put up to alert people to it, hence there being quite the rampage to get out of there. What are the girls going to do? Enjoy some unagi, of course! The random nature of the show is half the appeal and they just kind of run with it here in silly and nonsensical ways even as they really can’t believe that a meteor is coming. Their obliviousness and disbelief is amusing to watch as they then have to deal with the reality of it – in a funny pose, of course!

In Summary:
I knew what kind of show I was getting with Magical Somera-chan when I went into it and it worked out better than I had hoped for the most part. The original creator’s work isn’t some of my favorite when translated to this format, but Somera-chan had enough randomness to work while also slowing down enjoy to enjoy the weirdness and silliness that it has. It’s a cute and silly series that just enjoys doing whatever strikes the creator’s fancy and running with it, which is infectious enough. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s better animated than it might ordinarily be and that helps to elevate it a bit.
