The third season of Yamishibai is scheduled to hit on January 11th, 2016 and now TV Tokyo has provided for a quick but haunting new teaser spot for the show whose first season was just picked up by Sentai Filmworks. The short-form horror series has largely been under the radar for a lot of fun but it provides for something that very few shows do these days with this genre.
The second season landed in early 2014 and now the third season is scheduled to debut in January 2016 with plans for more than a hundred characters to appear in it. The new season is set to be directed by Takashi Taniguchi and Tomohisa Ishikawa at ILCA based on scripts from Satoko Kishi.
The cast retains the leads in Ryota Murai and Risa Aizawa.
Crunchyroll previously simulcast the first two season. Takashi Shimizu and Noboru Iguchi, who also worked on The Grudge and NuigulumarZ, each directed an episode on Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories 2.
Plot concept: Based on Japanese myths and urban legends, the series mimics the stories told by tradition Japanese storytellers using kamishibai (paper theater)
