The four-panel manga series Bono Bono from Mikio Igarashi had an anime adaptation back in the mid 90’s where it worked a fifteen-minute runtime to tell its humor. Now the property is going to make a comeback in 2016 with Fuji TV picking it up for an adaptation as a short-form series. The original manga has been in publication since 1986 and as part of its thirtieth anniversary will be getting this new adaptation. With forty volumes worth of material out there, there’s more than enough to work with.
The series will be animated by studio Eiken and will debut on April 2nd, 2016.
Plot concept: A sea otter and his friends, a raccoon and squirrel, live and play together in the forest.
