‘Wake Up, Girls’ Anime TV & Special Begins Hulu Distribution

Wake Up Girls HeaderSentai Filmworks picked up the rights to the series Wake Up, Girls as well as the movie and have now added it onto the Hulu service for viewing in full. It’ll be in its original Japanese language with English subtitles. Those that subscribe to Hulu get to watch this show in HD on their TV, mobile and computer. Check out the special that precedes the series below!

The feature and series both premiered in the winter 2014 season and there was a spin-off short-form series. Two feature films are currently in the process of release in Japan that follows up the original series.

Plot concept: Green Leaves Entertainment is a tiny production company on the verge of going out of business in Sendai, the biggest city in Japan’s northeastern Tohoku region. The agency once managed the careers of magicians, photo idols, fortune-tellers, and other entertainers, but its last remaining client finally quit. In danger of having zero talent (literally), the president Tange hatches an idea of producing an idol group. On the brash president’s orders, the dissatisfied manager Matsuda heads out to scout raw talent. Matsuda makes a fateful encounter with a certain girl…
