2 min read

Tokyo GHoul Season 1 CE CoverFor those still on the fence about picking up the well put together Tokyo Ghoul DVD/BD release from FUNimation, the distributor has now shuffled the first twelve episode cour onto Hulu in its English language dub form to check out. Being on Hulu means it’s open to US viewers only and those that subscribe get to Hulu to watch this show in HD on your TV, mobile and computer.

Check out our review of the show through FUNimation’s release here. The show was directed by Shuhei Morita based on the scripts by Chuji Mikasano at studio Pierrot. Kazuhiro Miwa is working as the character designer for it.

The original work comes from from Sui Ishida, who ended the first arc of the manga with volume fourteen recently and is now kicking off the sequel manga series Tokyo Ghoul:re. The first season starred Natsuki Hanae as Ken Kaneki, Sora Amamiya as Toka Kirishima and Hanazawa Kanaas as Rize Kamishiro. Mamoru Miyano also joined the cast as Shu Tsukiyama along with Takayuki Sugo, Sumire Morohoshi, Katsuyuki Konishi, Yuichi Nakamura, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, Shintaro Asanuma and Takahiro Sakurai as Uta. Originally starting serialization in Young Jump back in September 2011, the series has done well for a first-time creator who has no other published works to his name in the field.

Plot concept: In modern day Tokyo, society lives in fear of Ghouls: mysterious creatures who look exactly like humans — yet hunger insatiably for their flesh. None of this matters to Ken Kaneki, a bookish and ordinary young man, until a dark and violent encounter turns him into the first ever Ghoul-human half breed. Trapped between two worlds, Ken must survive the violent conflicts of warring Ghoul factions, while attempting to learn more about Ghoul society, his newfound powers, and the fine line between man and monster.
