GA Geijutsuka Art Design ClassFans of the manga series GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class from Satoko Kiyuzuki are about to enter a difficult period as the title is now set to bring its ten-year run to a close. The final installment has now been set for the December 28th, 2015 release of Manga Time Kirara Carat that has a February 2016 date on it.

The series was serialized in Heiwa Shuppan’s moe four-panel manga magazine Comic Gyutto! from its first issue on July 23, 2004 to its third issue, its last issue. Afterwards a one-shot manga appeared in the August 2005 issue of Houbunsha’s seinen manga magazine Manga Time Kirara Carat, and started regular serialization from the November 2005 issue. Yen Press announced at Comic Con 2008 that it had acquired a license for English-language distribution of GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class in North America. Their most recent release is the sixth volume that came out in September 2014.

A 12-episode anime adaptation aired in Japan between July and September 2009. It’s still available for streaming on Crunchyroll but has not been licensed for home video release.

Plot concept: The Ayanoi High School features the Geijutsuka Art Design Class (GA) that focuses on the arts. Five close friends — the energetic “hime”-prankster Noda Miki; the level-headed, cynical Nozaki Namiko; the intelligent, observant, and kind Oomichi Miyabi; the lively and mischievous tomboy Tomokane; and the curious, innocent, glasses-wearing Yamaguchi Kisaragi — attend this class with great enthusiasm, learning about the many art techniques. Every day seems to pose a new and interesting challenge, be it struggling with the latest assignment or when dealing with the daily strangeness of school life.
