Kodansha Acquires ‘Fairy Tail Zero’ Manga

Fairy Tail Zero Volume 1 CoverKodansha Comics USA has announced that they’ve picked up the rights to the Fairy Tail Zero manga from Hiro Mashima. The publisher has been picking up some of the secondary properties from this series as of late so it’s not a surprise to see them get it, though it’s definitely welcome. The book serves as a prequel tail that Mashima himself wrote and illustrated that ran from July 2014 to July 2015, culminating in a single volume release. Kodansha Comics USA intends to bring it out as a single volume release in summer 2016.

Plot concept: Many years ago, Mavis Vermilion was a servant on Sirius Island, mistreated by a guild master and his daughter, Zera. But Mavis stayed positive, because her mother once told her that fairies never visit people who cry about their problems. When the guild came under attack, Mavis pulled Zera from the wreckage into the forest. Seven years went by, and the powerful wizards Warrod Sequen, Precht, and Yuri Dreyer arrived on the island, seeking a powerful jade gemstone. This journey would change the course of magical history…
