2 min read

Hybrid Child Cover French EditionThe four part OVA series Hybrid Child out of Japan is now finding its first overseas home with it getting a French pickup and quick release. Set for a December 11th, 2015 debut, it’ll have all four episodes in a DVD/BD LE edition and a regular edition DVD with pricing to be announced. No details about what to expect for extras with it, but the cover art has been revealed and it will be in Japanese only with French subtitles.

The OVA is based on the boys-love manga of the same name by Shungiku Nakamura that was released in 2005. The anime adaptation is a four part OVA series.

Digital Manga Publishing previously released the translated manga here, but fans may know Nakamura more by her more popular works with Junjo Romantica and Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi, both of which are still ongoing in manga form.

The series is directed by Michiio Fukuda based on series composition by Aki Itami and character designs by Takahiro Kishida. The series is going to be animated at Studio Deen, which will definitely give it some strong production values. It stars Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kotarou Izumi, Daisuke Hirakawa as Hazumi, Tsubasa Yonaga as Yuzu, Ryohei Kimura as Ichi Seya, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Tsukishima and Yuuki Ono as Kuroda.

Plot concept: The Hybrid Child is an amazing android that can grow if it is lavished with enough love and care from its owner. Neither fully machine nor fully human, the various Hybrid Child models develop strong emotional bonds with their owners. This volume contains several short stories of love, sacrifice, and drama: Young Kotaro learns the importance of responsibility when his Hybrid Child’s lifespan runs out. The tragic swordsman Seya learns to love again with the help of his Hybrid child, Yuzu. The final tale tells the story of Kuroda, the creator of the Hybrid Child designs, and how his lost love inspired their creation.
